DISE Members Pen Article on The Importance of Co-ops
DISE Collective Members Dr. Caroline Hossein and Dr. Michelle Stack have co-authored an article in The Conversation entitled Co-operatives Empower People — And Students Need to Know About Them.
In this article we can see how the importance of coops come into very sharp focus, with increased breadth and depth, because of the combined knowledge and research of these two scholars. Given the current economic climate, with rising costs of living and education, students could greatly benefit from participation in local coops. Doing so not only grants them more financial possibilities and opportunities to participate in democratic governance, but a connection to the indisputable role coops have had throughout history - in Canada and around the world.
