Dr. Sharon D. Wright Austin

Dr. Wright Austin is Professor of Political Science at the University of Florida, and a member of the DISE Collective. Her research focuses on African-American women’s political behaviour, African-American mayoral elections, rural African-American political activism, and African-American political behaviour. Her research centres on the areas of African American politics, gender and politics, Southern politics, and urban politics.

She is currently editing Political Black Girl Magic: The Elections and Governance of Black Female Mayors (Temple University Press), and signed contracts with Oxford University Press and Cambridge University Press for two books that will be published in 2022 or early 2023.
