Dr. Hossein is Interviewed on the Significance of Financial Alternatives for the Black Community

The ability to access financial services is one of the most important determinants of success in life and Anti-Black racism within the financial sector has had disastrous consequences. Restricting a community’s ability to gain credit and access their income means they cannot be included in other parts of the economy and community.

Over ten years of “inclusion training” for bank employees at Canada’s largest banks has not reduced the levels of discrimination faced by Black communities, so how are they able to overcome? How was a small group able to raise $7000 in less than a few weeks to enable a grieving mother to travel to Sierra Leone for example?

Real solutions to the waves of discrimination from these centralized financial organizations must come from the people who feel the harm.
