New Book and New Video!

Dr. Hossein’s book The Banker Ladies: Vanguards of Solidarity Economics and Community-Based Banks was published this past May and now has an accompanying educational video.

In this book Dr. Hossein examines the ways in which diasporic Black women, who organize mutual aid, have build an activist form of economic co-operation that is intent on making social profitability the norm. Despite creating systems that are inclusive, democratic and founded on building consensus, they have received little to no recognition.
