Vibrant Solidarity and Social Economies

One in a series of videos produced by the DISE.

An introduction to the historical and political importance of the often hidden plural economies of Black and Indigenous peoples in the Americas.

Revisionist histories of economics and modern case studies remain fixated on the role of government aid and charity, excluding the ways these groups have created their own plural economies.

By prioritizing the livelihoods of excluded people and pulling on African traditions, they have successfully built systems to lift up and facilitate the successes of historically oppressed and excluded people.
