A Life's Work
Community Economies reviewed an interview Dr. Hossein did with the The New Prosperity Podcast last July. Author Jenny Cameron adds context and analysis to the episode - Caroline Shenaz Hossein - Redefining Economic Success: Cooperative Living.
Caroline Shenaz Hossein has been working to change mindsets and promote an ethical economic consciousness centred on cooperation and communal wellbeing. She has been documenting stories of economic diversity, and ensuring that those often excluded from economic matters are not erased. Hossein believes that the current focus on individualism and competition is too narrow, and that it is essential to make room for more diverse economic practices. She encourages people to start from a place of their immediate lives when making decisions about their economic practices, and then expand to collaborate with others to effect change. Hossein also works with business students, highlighting the diversity of enterprises, organizations, and financial institutions and the ways people with business training can contribute.
